Sharad Navratri falls in the lunar month Ashwin in the month of September or October. These nine days and nights during Navratri are dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga.
First three nights: Goddess Durga is worshipped first as a spiritual force so the devotee can destroy their negative qualities, such as anger, greed and ego.
Second three nights: Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped to
attain positive qualities such as purity, love, self control and kindness.
Last three nights: Goddess Saraswati is worshipped as the Goddess of Wisdom by praying to Saraswati the devotee is seeking to attain the highest knowledge which can only be accomplished after all negative qualities are destroyed and the mind and intellect are purified.
